Not urgent? Leave your details and we will ring you back to price it.
You cannot know, and that is the whole case for a lock change. One visit, and the only keys that work are the ones in your hand.
Previous owners, agents, tenants and tradies can each be holding a copy. A new lock brings the number of working keys back to the ones you were handed.
A partner, flatmate, employee or contractor who still has a key still has a way in. Change the lock and their key opens nothing.
Lost keys do not expire, and you will never know where they ended up. Changing the lock turns the missing key into a piece of scrap metal.
A lock that fights you is heading for failure, usually at the worst possible moment. Replace it on your timetable, not its own.
Not sure whether you need a whole new lock or just new pins? We will tell you which, and where the cheaper option is enough, that is the one we recommend.
The jobs that fill most of our week, across both zones — homes, apartments, shops and offices.
Opened without damaging the door, then we check the lock still throws properly before we go. Houses, units, offices and unit-block common doors.
Settlement day, a tenancy that just ended, or hardware that has finally given up. Supplied and fitted on the same visit.
The pins change, the hardware stays, and every key that used to work stops. The cheaper of the two honest answers.
Stiff, spinning, seized or holding a snapped key. Most of it is repairable where it stands, and sometimes the fault is the door rather than the lock.
Eight services, both zones, every hour of the year. The emergencies and the jobs that are cheaper precisely because they were not left to become one.
Answered any hour. Non-destructive entry is the default, so in most cases the lock you own stays on the door.
Worn cylinders, dropped doors, misaligned strikes and snapped keys. Lockwood, Whitco, Gainsborough, Yale, Carbine and the euro cylinders in newer builds.
Retire every existing key while keeping the hardware. Ask us to key the whole property alike while we are there.
Deadbolts, patio bolts, window and gate locks, and smart locks where the door actually suits one. We will tell you when yours does not.
Two zones, each with its own vans and its own quoted arrival target. We tell you which zone you are in when you ring.
From apartment door locks to commercial master key systems — we handle projects of all sizes.
Car keys cut and programmed at the vehicle, including all-keys-lost. Safes opened, serviced and relocated. Commercial master key and restricted key systems.
The jobs that fill most of our week. These are descriptions of the work, not customer reviews — we will publish real reviews once we have earned them.
The door shut behind you. Front door closed on the latch with the keys inside, at an hour when nothing else is open. Most of these are opened without damaging the lock, and the price is agreed on the phone before anyone is dispatched.
You just got the keys. Settlement day. You have no idea how many keys exist for the property you now own — previous owners, family, tradespeople, a property manager. Changing or rekeying the entry points draws a line under all of it.
A tenancy just ended. The keys came back, but you cannot know whether copies did. Rekeying keeps the existing hardware and retires every old key, which is the cheaper of the two honest answers.
Down to your last car key. Cutting a spare while you still have a working key costs a fraction of an all-keys-lost callout. If you are on your only key, this is the job worth booking before it becomes an emergency.
The key turns but nothing happens. A lock rarely fails without warning — it stiffens, then it needs a jiggle, then one day it stops. Most of those faults are repairable, and sometimes the real problem is the door, not the lock at all.
Someone left with a key. With a restricted system you retire that key and you are done. Without one, every lock they could open needs rekeying — which is the whole argument for a restricted system.
Easy Change Locksmiths was built around a single frustration: ringing a locksmith and having no idea who turns up, when, or what it will cost. So we run it the other way round. One number, a real person answering it, the nearest van in your zone sent your way, and a price agreed before any work starts.
We work set zones rather than the whole city. That is what lets us say which buildings run restricted key systems, which older homes still run original hardware, and how to get a door open without wrecking the frame.
The nearest van in your zone is moving once the price is agreed — any hour, any day.
No call centre, and no job handed to a stranger from the other side of the city.
Houses, apartments, shops and offices, across both service zones.
You hear the number before we start. It does not change once the job is done.
Four things that are either true on day one or not true at all. No claims here rest on a history this business has not had yet.
Trained across every major lock brand and entry system in use in Melbourne. Ask for our Victorian security business licence number when you book.
A 15 minute target close to either zone hub, 30 at the outer edges. Measured from the hub, told to you on the phone, before you agree to anything.
The quote comes before the tools do. What we say on the phone is what appears on the invoice.
No solution, no charge. Not a discount, not a partial refund — you simply do not pay.
Four things happen, in this order, every time.
Any hour, including public holidays. Tell us the suburb, the door and what happened.
We price the job from what you describe, say the after-hours rate out loud, and send the nearest van in your zone.
The vans carry stock, so most jobs finish without a second appointment. You pay when the work is done.
Easy Change Locksmiths runs two zones across Melbourne’s east and the Frankston south-east — houses, apartments, shops and offices. What decides most jobs is not the lock. It is whether the price was settled before anyone drove anywhere, and whether the arrival time was a measurement or a guess.
We are not a lead-generation brand auctioning your job to whoever bids lowest. Two zones, our own vans, and a price that is settled before anyone drives anywhere.
A sticking deadbolt and a commercial master key system get the same two things: a price before we start, and the work finished properly.

We run two zones and quote each separately. Close to either hub — Box Hill in the east, Frankston in the south-east — the target is 15 minutes. Through the outer east and the wider Frankston ring, allow 30. Lilydale and Mooroolbark run to 35. Those figures are measured from the zone hub, not averaged across Melbourne, and you get a real number on the phone before we move.
Cash, EFTPOS and the major cards, settled once the work is done and you are happy with it. Commercial clients can arrange to be invoiced on account instead.
Sixty suburbs across two zones. The eastern corridor runs from Box Hill and Balwyn out through Doncaster, Ringwood and Knox to Lilydale. The Frankston zone covers everything within about 12 kilometres of Frankston, from Edithvale down to Mornington and across to Cranbourne West. Between the two we are honest about the gap — call and we will tell you straight away whether anyone is near enough to be useful.
Ring us as soon as you know, so we can turn the van around. Cancelling before dispatch costs nothing. After a technician is on the way a callout fee may apply, and we will tell you the amount at the time rather than afterwards.
Ask for identification, and ask for the business’s Victorian security licence number — ours or anyone else’s. Our technicians carry photo ID and present it on arrival without being asked. A locksmith who will not show either is telling you something worth listening to. If somebody turns up claiming to be from us and cannot produce ID, do not let them start, and ring us.
If we attend and cannot solve it, there is no charge for that visit. Not a reduced rate, not a partial refund — nothing. The exceptions are the obvious ones: you cancel after a technician has arrived, access is refused, or entitlement to enter cannot be established.
Yes. Every day of the year, public holidays included. Out-of-hours and holiday rates do apply and you hear them on the call, before you agree to anything.
37 suburbs through the eastern corridor and 23 around Frankston. If yours is not listed, ring us anyway — there is often a van nearby.
